On a slightly nippy night, Chatham County Line made a special appearance and brought the house down for their first time ever playing at Raleigh's recently renovated Rialto Theater. Some nice subtle things happened that possibly some of the older folks in the crowd might have caught. Just before even stepping on stage, as house music greeted people taking thier seats, there was a subtle yet very interesting song chosen for the playlist: Maurice Williams and the Zodiac's 'Stay...just a little bit longer', which would have meant very little to the untrained ear, however back in 1967, the corner of this street--which used to house The Point--was called The JOKERS THREE CLUB, And it was a famous Raleigh place in Raleigh to catch beach music and shag. Well, as you guessed it, Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs played there! I couldn't track down a poster of that night back in Raleigh, but I've included another from that era. Okay back to the show: With the new album that's being released, there's so much hype and an aggressive summer tour to boot. Classics from the boys were played, however what I really want to mention here was that there was a very fitting cover song from Dexter Romweber, who passed away just the day before the show. It was a very nice touch led by Dave Wilson, on guitar.
